Project Description:
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) purchased TMA in May 2001 as their Maintenance Management System for the Facilities Management Department.

UNLV is a premier urban university located in the vibrant city of Las Vegas and is surrounded by the Mojave Desert. It is Nevada’s largest comprehensive doctoral degree granting institution with approximately 23,000 students and more than 2,000 faculty and staff. The university provides traditional and academic programs for a diverse student body and encourages innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to teaching, learning, and scholarship. The campus sits on 335 acres and is comprised of nearly 100 facilities that encompass more than 2.6 million maintainable square feet under roof. Approximately 30,000 work orders were generated in 2004, a number expected to rise significantly as the campus expands to keep pace with unprecedented growth and forecasted enrollment increases in the coming years.

As an umbrella organization, Facilities Management encompasses many functional areas including Building Services (maintenance and custodial), Fleet Operations, Planning and Construction, Landscape and Grounds, Telecommunications, Environment, Safety and Health, and Warehouse Operations. Although separate and distinct entities, all functional areas work together to maintain and support university facilities, assets, and infrastructure. Because of tremendous broad-based usage, TMA was set up for segregating data for each of these functional areas while at the same time sharing information from a common database.

The TMA system capabilities and functionality addresses, but is not limited to, the concepts of work management, preventive maintenance and repair, labor and resource management, CFC refrigerant management, asset management, vehicle maintenance, project management, landscape maintenance, inventory control, key management, recharge and billing functions, labor management, and reporting. The system also takes advantage of advanced technologies such as web enabling, bar coding, paging, internal graphical emulation, hand-held interfacing, and linking to external applications where possible and practical.

TMA has met and continues to meet the needs and demands of this growing institution.
